Greece 2009

A trip to Greece it has been time for one again. Once a year it has to happen. Greece has laid a bann on us. The hospitality of its inhabitants. The beauty and nature of the country. All this is attracks us again and again. We start very early in the morning in Aresing, Bavaria. Via Munich and Garmisch we travel down the Zirler Berg down to Innsbruck, then on the motorway over the Brenner down to Italy. Even at that time the road is crowded. Hollidays in Bavaria many of them heading  south like we do. After passing Verona the traffic is getting better. Less bavarian cars and less crowded on three lanes. What a relief. At 10:45 am we arrive at Venice Tronchetto the ferry port. Boarding starts at 2:00 pm we used the time to sleep and read. At 3:00 pm we were all on board of our vessel the Ikarus Palace. That was quicker than ever.

Ikarus Palace unsere Fähre

Two hours later we left Tronchetto on time, passing by big Cruise Vessels. One of them departing right after us.

Kreuzfahrtschiffe

Slowly we are moving alongside the beautiful scenery of Venice. We have to. Because moving faster would devastate the city with high waves produced by our ship.

Venedig Kanal

This is the best view one can have. Only passengers of huge ferries and cruise ships are able to have a view like that down to the city while moving slowly and smooth on the Canale Grande.

markusplatz

In the middle of the scenery lies the Marcus square, the center of Venice.

People waving at our children from the roof of a house. Bye bye Venice see you again in 2 weeks.
